Gifts for a Den Dwelling Fella
There are tools in the den. Tools that make life easier. Possibly some tools that will make your holiday shopping easier too.
The first tool of the day is the Philips Light Alarm Clock, scheduled the night before to light up in the morning (over a period of 30 minutes); this clock simulates sunlight. I’ve had mine for two years, and I love it.
The following tool of the day is the Apple Airpod Pros. These are great for most of the day, but I especially love them in the gym for two reasons. Reason 1 is the cordless factor. I used to tuck my headphone wires through my shirt, and while it wasn’t a terrible hassle, some exercises beg for my phone to be set aside (not in my pocket). Reason 2 is the noise cancellation. My gym already blares music through the building speakers, and with the old headphones, I would turn up my volume until my headphones drowned out the gym’s music. Now I can hold down the earbud for a moment, and the background noise goes nearly mute, saving my ears the damage and clearing my mind of the residual distractions.
Most days in the gym, I like to listen to books. For this, I use Audible. “Greenlights” by Matthew McConaughey is a fantastic book to get started. His memoir is a hell of a story, and he narrates it; alright, alright, alright…
I’m pretty picky about this next one; my protein shaker. This Contigo shaker has swooned me. The base of the bottle is rounded, which means the powder doesn’t clump up in the corners. Everything gets blended and is bound for the hatch!
The DJI mini drone is just incredible, and it’s the most affordable professional quality drone on the market. I don’t use it a ton, but I have a blast when I do.
The following tool has dramatically improved my relationship with my body. It’s the Renpho Scale. It's a pretty affordable scale that connects via Bluetooth to an app on your phone or tablet. It tracks your weight and several other body composition metrics. What I love the most is how Renpho keeps the information in-app. I can adjust to daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and all-time when looking back on weigh-ins. It will also give the option to weed out AM/PM weigh-ins.
THE BEARD BIB, ladies and gentlemen! Misses, this tool will keep your fella's beard trim off the countertop and out of the sink. Fellas, doesn’t it get old, wiping up your stubble every time you go to the bathroom for a trim? I used to occasionally cut a hole out of a trash bag and tape it to the mirror to catch the fallings from my face. Now I unroll the bib, velcro it around my neck, drop the loops onto the hooks suctioned onto my mirror, shave, and shake the shavings into the toilet. TA-DA!
Once I shave, shower and pamper. It’s to the Templated Journal. I like to use the journal that I made because it covers all of the big bases of daily life and allows for comparison over time. I can track my sleep, nutrition, fitness activity, media consumption, creations, meditation, reflection, and to-do lists in this journal.
When I’ve journaled, I’ll go back to the Philips Light Alarm Clock, set the dimmer to a sleep timer, and head to bed for reading time. In bed, I’m fond of a reading light. Not only does a good reading light make the pages more visible in the evening, but when I’m done reading, I hardly have to move before going to sleep.
I hope this has helped give some ideas for the Holidays or a spontaneous gift!
I’ve forgone suggesting things I don’t truly value.
Have a good one, I’ll try to do the same!
